Nonprofit coincides global cycling event with IWD for equality, inclusion, and positive change

LOMBARD, Illinois, January 21, 2022 – ln the midst of Inspyrd Movement™ receiving their  501c3 designation, the nonprofit is planning their 3rd annual International Women’s Day Together We Ride™ (March 5-8, 2022). The Together We Ride event coincides with International Women’s Day (IWD) on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, and has become a genuinely global affair since its inception in 2020.

“I’m overwhelmed at how our event has taken off not just locally, but globally, too. Last year was only the second year, in the middle of a pandemic, and we nearly tripled the number of participants. As the world embraced cycling as a healthy and safe way to enjoy the outdoors, our empowerment peloton grew to almost 800 cyclists worldwide,” stated Dawn Piech, founder of Inspyrd Movement.

Last year’s event had participants representing the US from 33 states and ten international countries. The countries included Australia, Dubai, Germany, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Lithuania, South Africa, and Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, cyclists’ ages ranged from 8 months old to 94 years young.

INCLUSIVITY AND COMMUNITY

With the continued goal to be more inclusive to riders of all ability levels, ages, and terrain, the organization encourages any cycling distance to qualify for a finisher’s Persistence Patch of Honor. This opens up the event to more riders and types of riding (i.e., mountain bikers, leisure riders, families spin classes Peloton bikes, etc.). Regions in Randonneurs USA (self-supported long-distance cycling) will offer rides greater than 100K for those who may want to host a longer distance or possibly a weekend of ride options. IWD lands on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, making the IWD Together We Ride a 4-day event, spanning Saturday through Tuesday (March 5-8), giving more flexibility in scheduling a ride or organizing a celebratory event.

GRASSROOTS OUTREACH

The IWD Together We Ride continues to increase its grassroots outreach to include more advocacy organizations and clubs. They also look to grow their partnerships with fellow women advocates locally, in the US, and worldwide, like ambassadors for Black Girls Do Bike, TREK Bicycles, and I-Fit Bike Club and Pacing Team.

The organization is looking for cycling clubs, advocacy groups, and individuals to help host and promote the event, moving everyone towards more equality, inclusion, and positive change globally. In addition, there are sponsorship opportunities for organizations and individuals looking to support Inspyrd Movement’s vision and goal of making movement-based activities more accessible for everyone.
