NBDA Member Call Out: Pedal Station
In 2016, Kids on Bikes launched the Pedal Station Community Bike Center, Colorado Springs’ first community bike center.
Our goal is to ensure all kids have the chance to experience the joy of riding a bike. We believe that access to quality bicycles and expert service makes a significant difference in empowering young lives. We want everyone who walks through the doors to feel welcomed and get stoked on bikes, kids and adults.
The Pedal Station offers:
- Affordable and expert bike services
- New and refurbished adult and kids bikes
- Bike gear and accessories
- Community courses for bicycling enthusiasts
- Bike Mechanic Volunteer opportunities
All proceeds from the Pedal Station support the mission of Kids on Bikes to empower all kids to lead healthy, active, and happy lives through bicycling.
Used bikes are donated to the Pedal Station and they are refurbished to either go on our retail floor for resale or out to Kid on Bikes programming.
Kids on Bikes programs, such as free after-school Earn-a-Bike clubs, free Youth Learn the Velodrome programs, family rides, summer bike camp scholarships, bike nominations, and bike rodeos, have been shown to reduce risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, drug and alcohol abuse, and anxiety. Each and every bike used in Kids on Bikes programming is refurbished and maintained by the Pedal Station. In just 2024, we’ve helped nearly 413 kids receive bikes through our programs!
