National Bicycle Dealers Association Announces 2025 Retailer Excellence Award Winners

Irvine, CA, March 25, 2025 – The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 Retailer Excellence Awards (REA), honoring exceptional bicycle retailers who demonstrate excellence in business strategy, customer engagement, and community impact. This year, 90 retailers participated in a series of program categories, with 54 earning the distinction of being named winners. The full list of award recipients is available on the NBDA Website. 

The NBDA’s Retailer Excellence Awards is an intensive 3-month masterclass designed to help bicycle retailers achieve operational excellence. This year’s program combined peer learning, KPI tracking, community engagement, and staff feedback, empowering retailers to succeed in today’s challenging landscape. Four virtual meetings encouraged peer-to-peer learning and collaboration, along with a financial and accounting deep-dive with Red Bike Advisors. Now in its 13th year, the Retailer Excellence Awards continue to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of bicycle retailers across the industry.

NBDA President Heather Mason commented, “It is truly inspiring to watch retailers in this program support one another through peer events, sharing insights and strategies to elevate their businesses. Seeing so many dive into financials and KPIs, striving for continuous improvement, is a testament to the strength and resilience of our industry. Their dedication sets a remarkable example for all Specialty Bicycle Retailers.”

Winners were announced at the 2025 Retailer Summit West, and will be honored at a virtual event on April 9th. More information about this event can be found on the NBDA website.

The 2025 program challenged participants to elevate their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), energize staff, organize community events, attract riders, seek community feedback, and gain media attention – all with a focus on achieving retail excellence.

In addition to the prestigious Retailer Excellence Award, honors were also given for the People’s Choice Award, which recognized the shop with the most positive community survey responses in each category (Single-Location, Multi-Location, and Shop with Adjacent Business), and the President’s Award, selected by NBDA President Heather Mason. This special recognition highlighted retailers demonstrating exceptional excellence in the industry.

The Retailer Excellence Award is one of many programs spearheaded by the NBDA in the pursuit of strengthening the specialty bicycle retailer and leading bicycle retail to excellence.
