NBDA Announces 1st Annual Bicycle Gala – All Invited to Join
The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) has announced an industry-wide virtual celebration to take place September 24th, 2021 at 8:00 pm EST. This 1st Annual Bicycle Industry Gala, proudly presented by Shimano North America and Quality Bicycle Products is intended to be a call to action for retailers, suppliers, advocates, and new consumers to engage with the bicycle industry in this new special event.
Affectionately referred to as “the bicycle industry’s biggest night out,” the 2021 Bicycle Industry Gala will unite all for a fun-filled evening celebrating cycling, community, passion, and the path forward. Held in a dedicated virtual zoom room, the NBDA is inviting all to join for a one-of-a-kind evening, featuring guest speakers, inspirational messages, musical performances, custom cocktails, a spectacular auction, and much more.
The tagline of the event: “Because we can’t do this alone”.
“It’s about making memorable moments. From here on out, all the rules change. Let’s reclaim some time for ourselves, dress up a bit, and enjoy,” stated NBDA President Heather Mason. “We could all use a few hours of good music, companionship, inspiration, and engagement. What a better way to engage our retailers, suppliers, advocates, staff, and new cyclists than with an invitation to a bicycle gala? I would like to show everyone firsthand what has been proved to me; that the bicycle industry is made up of an amazing network of individuals.”
Tickets are available on the NBDA website and open to retailers, staff, industry, advocates, cycling fans, and cyclists alike. Tickets are $40 per computer general access, or VIP admission which includes a special pre-event mingle at $60. The event is limited to 500 attendees. Proceeds from the event will support education, research, communication, and advocacy programs of the NBDA.
“Taking intentional time to celebrate our industry is important considering the challenges we’ve all faced and continue to overcome,” said Bill Schouman, QBP Vice President of Sales. “This rapid change has also presented opportunities and inspirational responses and I’m excited to have these messages shared broadly at the 1st Annual Bicycle Industry Gala.”
Music will highlight the event with several musical performances including acclaimed artist, Dan Bern playing a special song for the event titled “Bike”. Joining Dan will be Annie in the Water, whose music is a groovy combination of rock, funk, reggae, blues and jamstyle written with a dose of positive vibes and unique melodies. Annie in the Water will play a special never seen recording of their popular song “Time to Play”.
“We hoped to do the event in person at the CABDA shows, but with the concerns of gatherings decided to shift to a virtual platform. With the shift we can bring in nationwide acts, multiple guests and really touch the industry as a more complete whole”. says NBDA Development Director Rachelle Schouten. “If you are a retailer, work in a shop, work for a supplier or organization- this night is for you. If you are a new rider, lifetime rider, or cycling fan and would like to get better acquainted with the bicycle industry- this night is for you. If you are in another industry and want to see how unique the cycling industry is, how close and connected and inspired- this night is for you.”
The event will feature a silent auction, playing host to several unique and one-of-a-kind items including Tokyo Olympic Gear, Giant Branded Bicycle Helmet, Gift Baskets from program sponsors and other cycling items. The NBDA will have a full list of items available on their website beginning 9/20/21.
“Independent Bicycle Dealers are a cornerstone in many of their communities. Whether their local customers ride for health, ride for fun, or ride for transportation, the retailers deliver professional advice and service from a position of passion. Together we will all celebrate” states sponsor Frank McMillan, President of Ensure Protect and Developer of R.I.D.E.S.
The event is sponsored by HLC, Ascent 360, Rides Extended Service, Podium, Giant Bicycles, BikeMart, The League of American Bicyclists, Human Powered Solutions and Bike Index.
The NBDA is tasking the industry at large to support, attend, and promote the upcoming Gala.
