Blaupunkt Brings eBike Manufacturing to North Carolina

Blaupunkt, a name synonymous with German engineering and innovation, is taking a bold step forward: bringing foldable eBike production to the United States. The company has committed to establishing manufacturing in Western North Carolina, near Asheville, with start of production targeted for Q1 2026.

This decision follows Blaupunkt’s proven success manufacturing in Paraguay, where ISO standards, UL 2849 certification, and rigorous quality controls have been in place since 2022. That nearshore foundation built the expertise needed to now onshore. The new U.S. facility will replicate these processes while creating 60–80 American jobs, with a long-term capacity of up to 250,000 UL 2849-certified eBikes per year.

Unlike many brands that rely heavily on Chinese contract manufacturers, Blaupunkt designs, develops, and manufactures its own products. This independence allows Blaupunkt to lead the way as the first major eBike brand investing directly in U.S. production—an important milestone for the industry.

Blaupunkt is also actively supporting legislation like H.R. 3904, the U.S. Bicycle Production and Assembly Act, alongside PeopleForBikes. The goal: make U.S. eBike manufacturing a sustainable reality for more brands.

For dealers, the message is clear: Blaupunkt isn’t just selling eBikes—it’s building the future of eBike manufacturing right here in America.
